which pump for a 90g?

It depends what you are using the pump for. I only run 700 gallons through my sump, and then I run two seio 820's for circulation. I have four tunze 6025's on order to bump up the circ inside of the tank. I have heard of people having problem's with the quiet one pumps, and I have heard nothing but good things about the oceanrunner pumps. i would go, ocean runner if it was my choice.

The equivalent to the eheim 1260 is the Ocean Runner 2500. It is only 35 Watts and is really quiet. I don't know about the longevity of the OR pumps (eheims have a great track record for dependability, etc) and I've only had my OR 2500 for a few days, but it is also only $43 from fosters and smith compaired to $119 for the eheim.
I too have heard about reliability problems with the Quiet One pumps in that they often fail to come on after a shut down/power outage. I haven't heard the same RE the OR pumps, but I also don't think many people run the OR pumps so there isn't as much experience with them out there.
Based on my limited experience with the OR 2500, I'd suggest the OR pump over the quiet one.

I've run a Quiet One 3000 on my 90 for the past 2 1/2 years. I have to throttle back the output with a valve. Unless you're going to run it through a squid or do something else with it, a 4000 would be way too big, at least with my overflow.
I ran a Mag 5 for awhile. Its flow was ideal for my overflow as I could run it wide open. Any more flow and I would have had to throttle it back. The Mag 5 had a humm to it. Much louder than my QO3000.
I wanted to run an eheim 1260, but it was too big to fit in the compartment in my sump.
FWIW: Quite a few people here have stated that their QO3000's sometimes do not restart. I had never had that problem and I turn it off every day. Mine did develop a rattle. I talked with the Tech at Pentair Aquatics and he said they have fixed the rattle problem and the restart problem. He is sending me parts to repair my rattle.
