im not sure which pump to buy for my return from my sump to the main.....i have a 65 gal rimless tank....the return line should be no more than 4 ft.....im not sure if i should get a mag drive md9.5 which pumps 950 gph with a 14 ft. max head or a turbo sea external pump model 1090 which pumps 1090 gph with a 13.1 ft max head. im not sure which to get....the md9.5 is 93 watts and the turbo sea is 80 watts...thats the only reason i would get the turbo sea....to save on my electric bill....but other than that is there any real difference in the two???? thanks for your help.

dont really know. but im pretty sure theyll pump out the max height b/c i have no kinks or bends in the lines.

External pumps are far better. They tend to live longer, are easy to clean, and will transfer less heat to your aquarium. Id recommend the pan-world pumps. Quiet and solid performance.

yeah i was thinking about the heat transfer also....i just didnt wanna go through the hastle of drilling my sump...but i guess ill do it....plus the whole system will look more flush..thanks.

If you have an acrylic sump, then drilling it and installing a bulkhead is extremely easy. I have no experience with drilling glass but there are tons of instructional threads here. Either way its worth the time and effort.
