Which eheim pump would you recommend for a roughly 10 gallon tank of dwarf searhorses? I was thinking the 1048, which is 158 gph, but it would be at 3-4' of head loss. It will be the only source of flow in the tank, and I am thinking of having it split off so it wouldn't all be from one spot in the tank.

Does this sound okay, or too much?

I'd go for a spraybar across the length of the top of the tank in lieu of multiple returns IMO. That is a bit of flow for the dwarfs. Might want to install a ball or gate valve on the output of the pump incase the flow is to great.

If you want to save some cash a MJ 1200 will have a similiar output and can push water about 5' IME. There $20.
