Which skimmer is better

I am going from a 12gal nano to a 46 gallon reef tank. I have all the equipment already but I am torn between which protein skimmer to use. I have a cpr bacpac and a hangon berlin protein skimmer with a rio 1100 attached to it. I plan to put a variety of corals from soft to hard corals and probably over 50 lbs of live rock with about 50lbs of live sand. So I can't decide. I have not used any of these protein skimmers before but I have heard a lot of good reviews on both of them.

And I would like to know if $10 a lb for Marshall rock is a good price. It has a lot of purple algae.
Thanks

cruzin,

Do you plan on having a sump in your 46, or will you use a hang-on?

You might want to look into the Urchin (in-sump) and Remora (hang-on) skimmers from Aqua C. They're very well received, low maintenance, and reasonably priced. HTH

Thanks, but I already have both these skimmers. They were given to me. I plan on not using a sump. All I plan on using for now is the protein skimmer and a hang on the back filter just for chemical filtration. May be later I will think about adding a hang on refugium.

Sorry--I misread your post. How about running them both simultaneously and having a "skimmer shoot-out?" Darkest skimmate wins! :D
