I have a 75 gallon tank with a few fish and zooanthids, mushrooms and two anemones. I am wanting to upgrade my protein skimmer and I am wanting some recomendations on an in sump proteins skimmer. I am wanting to get more corals, but I want to get my equpment upgraded before I get any more corals. What skimmer should I buy for this tank?

ebay has had aqua c skimmers brand new with the right pumps. I got the 120 for $251 the other day. I am putting it in tomorrow.

What price range are you looking at, and what livestock are you planning on keeping???

There are many great skimmers out there in a wide variety of price ranges... Knowing the demands placed upon your system would also help for better advice...

Good question ct vol, as there are so many skimmers available for a huge range or prices, some of which are great, and some are not so. As for recomendations, i think you will probably only get people boosting the skimmers they use. From what i can tell, as long as you stick with MSX, Reef Octo, ASM, Bubble King, Bubble Magus, Precision Marine, you should be able to find a great one that works for you. They aren't the cheapest brands, but i think they are the top handful of readily available skimmers for decent prices

I am wanting to get more zooanthids and maybe some LPS in the future. i am looking to spend around $200.

For that price I'd be looking at an ASM, MSX, DAS, or like model skimmer... I'm really not a fan of the hang on tank Aqua C skimmers, like the Remora and whatnot... Check out the used equipment sales forum as there are a lot of good deals to be had out there... Make sure you buy from a reputable person with a higher post count that will send the item tracked and insured... There are many threads on here if you look where people send skimmers improperly packed and uninsured that arrive in pieces... Good Luck... :)

I switched to a Vertex a few months ago. Early models had a pump issue that I believe has since been resolved. Mine has run flawlessly since the pump issue got fixed. it is inexpensive, runs like a champ, the best part is it took 15 minutes to set up. My water quality is remarkably better at this point.
