Which skimmer to choose?

A little more info would be very helpful. What is your budget? What type of sump/space do you have? Want an internal or external skimmer? All these will help you get better advice.

ahh sorry. looking for an in sump, with 8" footprint. something under 1k. Of course i rather spend less, but if an expensive skimmer does a better job than less expensive ones, i dont mind spending the money.

thank you

You could get an aquamaxx cone 3 right now at marine depot for $350. Not only is this an excellent choice, you'd be hard pressed to find better at almost any price point.

8in dia body + area pump takes up of 8in footprint?

If footprint you would have to go with one of those sump savers...... I would rework your sump so you can get something larger. 8in dia sump saver is quite small for a heavy bio load. That is if the skimmer is only 21-23in tall.... If the skimmer is 30in then you should be ok

No, I have a couple chambers, but where the skimmer resides now, is 9" wide by 18" depth, and 24" high clearance. So no... i wouldnt have a problem with pump area. thanks!
