While frag tank is on the brain....

This is pretty much going to be a zoo only frag tank. Probably some zenia and GSP also, but mostly zoo (70+ morphs).

I really, really want to do this bare bottom. While searching around best I could, no one mentions if critters are necessary, possibly a fluidized bed filter, or what not.

The only thing so far is the return pump into a manifold, some eggcrate, and a small AquaClear skimmer. Will I need to do or add anything else?

I have more Narissus (sp?) snails now than I know what to do with, those I can add in abundance. I don't plan on putting any livestock whatsoever in this tank, so any off hand suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,
Steve

FWIW the corals you want to raise will grow faster with a DSB. They like a higher nutrient environment. Since you will have little other filtration that would also serve as your main filter.

I have a fluidized filter bed sitting in a closet. A berlin or merilin or something. Just needs new sand media and a PH. Worked great on my goldfish tank but have no need for it with 100 lbs LR in the tank. LMK $20 if you want it. Or a nice zoo frag!! :)

Chris, I thought about that, and I'm trying to keep the frag display fairly clean. Water changes from my main tank will supply partial "new" water in the frag tank to keep the nutrient rate higher (not to mention, it'll be almost just like home as I get grow out from the zoos). That's why I was thinking maybe a Fluidized Bed Filter in the Sump, opposite side of the skimming chamber. (?)

Angela, that sounds great. I can give you your choice, money or frag, but the frag part will take time (mostly) as I'll be waiting on grow out. I do have a few colonies I'will be fragging once the tank is setup.
