white coral skeletons

In a new tank that Iam still setting up would it be ok to use some coral skeletons as part of my base rock?

I've read that they are more prone to algae. Don't know if this is true or not. If you like the look, though, go for it.

I started with one in my tank this spring. It's now brown and starting to get purpled up pretty well. I didn't notice that it ever had any more algae than any of the live rock.

its just dead live rock. As far as algae goes, no different than base rock, except more expensive. After all liverock is just dead corals with various organisms living on it...

I did half and half in my 20 gal because I found some interesting pieces beach combing. Six m onths later, you can't tell the difference between the two...
