My 4 your old yellow watchman Goby that has been through hell and back has just now developed a white dot on each eye. He can still see and is eating well. I am just worried that it might not go away. it's only him and a young Royal Gramma in the tank. They both had white patches on the body three weeks ago and has since gone away. All I did was swith from dry food to live food and feed them more frequently with mysis shrip, i also did a 4 gallon water change ( its a 22gal bow tank).

I have a clown fish and a blue damsel in the Sick tank waiting to go into my main tank and I want to make sure its not contagious. I dont believe it is cause the Gramma is fine and it had been a week now that he had the white dot.

is it contagious?

Assuming what you are dealing with is, in fact, Lympho; whether or not it's contagious is debatable. I have a PBT I know has it, but that's never stopped me from adding more fish to her tank. And I've never seen Lympho on any of those fish. But being the virus only seems to "flare up" when a fish is stressed, perhaps that just hasn't happened yet.

Lympho almost always goes away on it's own. I've found soaking fish food in vitamin supplements seems to help; probably because it gives their immune system a boost. I've only seen Lympho prove fatal once; in a very large, older Scribbled angel. It just completely took over his body, mouth, gills, etc. He died shortly after I attempted to cut it off his mouth (he hadn't eaten in two weeks) and gills (his breathing had become labored because of it). So, maybe my lack of fish surgery skills is what killed him. :(

That could be Lympho. Bacterial infection is a possibility as well. But you saying the "white patches on the body" just went away makes me think more likely it's Lympho. Small fish with bacterial infections usually require antibiotic treatment to get better.

I would just sit tight for now, observe closely and see if it gets any worse.

thanks, the fish has been very active since the white patches went away and I am feeding more. I will keep watching it.

Thanks!!
