White film on new live rock?

So I am not new to the hobby, about 12 years ago I maintained 3 tanks, but recently decided to get back into it. I started up a 25 gallon this week, and added new live rock about 2 days ago. It started off well, but now a white film has grown over a good portion of the rock. I have researched on it and have not found too much. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this normal? Pics Included

Its a sponge..
I'd guess it will probably go away on its own in time but its really not causing any harm and is a beneficial filter feeder..

Will it damage any corraline algae since its growing over a lot of it? I can simply wipe it off the rock if so

yes it may cause the corraline to weaken/disappear in that area under it (not something I would ever care about though ;) )...
