White Fuzz...See PIC..

I have noticed that there is a white/transparent fuzz growing all over my rocks.

I think that it is hurting my coral growth, especially my zoas. They (zoas) seem to spread out all over the rocks, and just seem to be irritated.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be ? What to do about it?

Looks like it could be some hair algae starting up. Try scrubbing the rocks out of the tank or scrub and siphon if you can't remove the rocks. Check on your nutrients levels especially phosphate and nitrate. Try to manage it before it gets out of control.

I had my R/O water checked yesterday. TDS was 9.
Is that OK? I thought that it was OK. He was saying something about rejection rate, but I need to do some research on it.

Also, I had a 55g, 3 weeks ago I moved everything to this new 75 drilled with a 30 gal sump. During that move I had to add about 50 gallons of fresh salt water to fill up. That was quite a water change.

I did have this stuff before the move, probably for at least 3 months, do you still think this could be hair algae? I have seen alot of tanks with hair algae and it did not grow that slow. I also grow Chaeto in the fuge for nutrient export.

Thanks!!

Give it time to run it's coarse. I agree with what the others have said. It's the beginning of some algae, probably Hair Algae.

What's your method of Nitrate export? deep sand bed, macro algae, ...?

Yes Chaeto in the sump for nutrien export. Change about 10gal out every other week.
