White Mithrax Crab??

Little guy is a hitchhiker(my first really cool one) I was doing a little research and it seems that this color is unusual, he was almost completely white with pink/orange joins on the legs. I don't really think he's dangerous to the tank(carapace was about nickle sized), I'm just kind of looking for thought and oipinons on him.

I've got two emeralds currently one for a month the ohter for a little over a week(so the new guy isn't offspring).

Sorry no pics yet, I was too flabberghasgted that I had a third mithrax crab in my tank to think about getting the camera out

If they do not have enough algae to eat, they beging to lose color. That does not mean that they are unhealthy. You could tie some seaweed to rock and see if he colors up any.

Sorry for the length of time to get an update, but I did get another spotting and again I was flabbergasted by this little demon. This time I was floored by the hand full of frogspawn tentacles in his claws. I highly doubt his polyp taste comes from a lack of algae, because I have pretty healthy growth of green hair algae in the tank. He must now be caught an bannished to the polyp-less sump:mad2:

I am victorious. I caught the little booger, and now he is a handsome addition to my sump. Named him(her?) Equensu Ocha, Whashutu for White Devil(Ace Ventura 2).

how?

how?

How did you succeed in catching the little White Devil?

I have a hitchhiker mithrax that is mostly grey/black with very hairy striped legs, and I want him out. I've seen him 2x in 3 months so he's good at hiding.

The reason why it wasn't eating algae is because it's not a Mithrax. It's a xanthid or some related family.

Its was early morning before the lights came on. I had noticed that my wife's open brain had fallen off its perch again. I was about to reach in and reset the coral and I saw the little white booger on the corals perch, with a bit of quick thinkingi grabbed a set of tongs and caught him before he slipped away in to another hiding spot.

I tried crab traps but unless you are willing to trap and isolate all your hermits, ermeralds, etc you will have less luck than most people have patience

Hi there ;)

Some time ago but maybe You still want to know. That's Xanthias lamarcki, a pretty predatorous Xanthid crab. ;) The sump is perfectly okay for this guy.
