White or Bleached Alveopora?

I bought this alveopora a couple of weeks ago.

Where I first got it:

I moved it down to a shaded area with less light and very low flow.

So my question is:

Is this a bleached alveopora that is dying or is there a such thing as an all white alveopora? It not actually all white, the tips are yellowish/green. I thought it was an alveopora japonica, but not sure. Just wondering if it can be saved, I know they are difficult to take care of.

I've got a pretty large alveopora (7" tall and 5" wide) that was a nice deep green when I purchased it. I have full Cree LED's on my tank, and it has slowly gone white, very similar to yours. It is not dying, most likely bleached. I don't really have any shade in my tank, so I'm just dealing with it. It's still a cool coral with lots of "sway". I still enjoy the way the coral looks under actinics as well. Let us know how it does in the shaded area.

Thanks Gvine. I have LEDs too and think they are too strong. The Alve didn't like a lot of flow either. I have a vortech MP40 and Mp10 in my 90. A's you can tell from the pic, when I moved him down, the polyps extended more and it filled out. So, I am hoping it will recover. As for the color, I bought it white with greenish yellow tips. I am just assuming they were bleached and alveoporas are never white. Agreed looks cool under actinics, l love the glow.

If a coral is bleached it is not healthy and will eventually die if the problem is not corrected. It would be like you having a constant sunburn of the worst degree. You need to correct the problem. Also with all the actinic lighting I can not tell what color your coral is.

is it due to low nutrients?
or too much light?

We would need more info on your tanks. They are very difficult to care for. They do need high nutrients, and it could be due to too much light, or to little light.
