White patch on red cap monti

Silly clownfish

New member
I have had this red cap since Sept and moved it from QT to its current location in November. It has been growing well, and statting to put on shelves recently. Within the last week or so though, it has developed a white patch - kind of a band across the middle of it. It is not close enough to anything to get stung -8 inches at least from the closest piece of frogspawn. My water parameters are very stable:
Salinity 1.025
PH 8.2
Alk 9
Calcium 480
Magnesium is the only thing that I have a hard time maintaining. Currently 1290.
I did notice that my temp had crept up to 80.9. I usually keep it around 78-79.

My tank is a 75g with 20g sump, RO skimmer, no reactors, just a bag of GAC and phosban in the sump, small fuge, I dose kalk via ATO, reef breeder LEDs, peak at 65%, I have not messed with the settings in months.

I see a lot of posts about nudibrachs, but since I have not added any corals to the system since this one went in it would mean they had been domant since I got the frag in Sept, and that does not seem likely, although I don't know their life cycle. I can't see anything. Since the frag has grown to a rather large piece of rock, I can not readily remove it from the tank, or get too good of a look underneath.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Kim
