White specs on glass

Not too long ago I noticed these little tiny specs on the aquarium glass and they appear to be moving. Now they have increased and I am not sure what they are. Too small to identify but move around.

Are they some kind of copepod or plankton? I think if I don't do something soon that they will become out of control and maybe do some harm.

most likely copepods, plankton is microscopic and impossible to see suspended in the water column. copepods are benificial and will consume algae and plankton and will provide a food source for many other reef inhabitants. most small wrasses, dragonetts, and other fish constantly pick at the substrate/rocks/glass to get at these tasty treats.
