hi, i was hoping someone can help me. i have a 6x2.5x2.5 (with sump) mixed reef that has been running for just over a year now. my fish incl: purple tang, blue tang, long nose yellow butterfly, flame angel, bi color blenny, 4 chromis, 2 orange clown fish and 1 black clown. also a featherduster worm and a blue linkia starfish.

A month ago I bought 4 chromis and a long nose butterfly fish, ever since then ive had nothing but problems, my 2 orange clowns which ive had for 10 months now, got brookynella. a few days past and it has dissapeared. the next day my black clown got it very bad and died the next day. at this stage I was advised by my LFS to use Vertonex as a treatment, which I did for 4 days, waited 2 weeks and done a water change. the brookynella is still on my black clown but has cleared up a lot. through out this time my blue tang has shown signs of ich,

Today which is 5 days after the previous water change my long nose butterfly and bi color blenny have white spots appeared on them. all my fish are eating fine, they eat mysis shrimp soaked in garlic daily and every now and then veggie sheets.

I have tried moving them into my QT tank which is only 3 ft, but I cant possibly catch any of them in my size tank. really need some help here I dont know what to do. Im going to turn on my UV steralizer (which is proberly to late to use now, couldnt use it while treatment was on)

Does anyone have any kind of advice at all? anything is very appreciated. thanks

I have just started treatment with Crypto-pro. It is supposed to work well for ich, velvet and brook. So far I am in day 3 of the treatment. No ich has returned on any of the fish being treated. It will kill some inverts, coral etc, and any type of algae. But I believe it is a safer treatment than copper and formalin. I have had no luck using formalin. I also have well water that has. 05ppm of copper already in it so I do not use it. Crypto-pro is quinine sulfate and so far everyone I have talked to that has tryed it says that it works great. It is a bit more expensive than your more traditionaltreatments and is only available through National Fish Pharmaceuticals. My fish have recovered quickly and like I said, I have seen no new white spots since I started treatment. Hope this helps, just remember it cannot be used in a reef tank with any inverts.
