White Spot in Reef Tank - Cure

I just lost a 4" Achillies Tang to white spot. The fish was fine for almost 1 week before I put him into the main tank but once in the display, white spot started and slowly got really bad. The fish was eating really well until his last day and I tried with cleaner wrasse and different type of reef safe medicine (ICH-X and Halt Parasite).

What is gone is gone now....nothing can be done. I would like to know if this would happen to my next fish again? Can I wait this out - 2 months?

Welcome any suggestions!

BTW, I still have 4 demsels and 1 wrasse which are doing fine......

There is no reef-safe cure for ich. there are several advertised, but I don't know anyone who thinks they work. You may get lucky and your fish can fight it off. But, chances are, any new fish will get the parasite. Treating the fish in a HT, while the DT stays fishless for 8+ weeks is the only way to cure the stuff. here's some good info: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1992196. How long did you have the Achilles in a QT? Anything less than 8 weeks is not long enough, IMO & IME.

Especially with fish that are highly susceptible to cryptocaryon irritans, proper quarantine is mandatory. Once a fish is in your display tank with ich, they will contaminate the tank going forward. There is no commercially available cure for this other than the three discussed in the sticky referenced above.
