White spot on sixline

So I purchased a sixline from the LFS about a month and a half ago. I know people are going to want pictures and I know it's easier with them but he moves to fast. Ever since I go him he has a white spot (larger than Ich but still very small) on his tail fin. It shows up like every other week. I'll look in the tank and he will have it then a week later it's gone. It's not sand. It looks like a white fungus. But I don't know. It doesn't seem to affect any other fish and seems to go away only to come back.

Sounds like it might be Lymphocystis. Larger white area than Ich, has a textured cauliflower appearance. Google some pics of that and see if it looks similar. Otherwise, a picture would greatly help!

This. With information provided, that is best guess.

My sixline had one white spot on his tail where the body met the fin. I thought it was ich, but never really changed for a month in QT. Read online of similar issues with other sixlines. Two and a half years later no issues with this fish. Hard to say without pictures, but sounds familiar to what I saw.

sixline wrasses create a mucus when they sleep that will kill of external parasites and such things. I had one that was covered in white spots and three days later there wasn't anything left on him. He is still alive and kicking today.

Just to clarify, they do secrete a mucus coating that they sleep in, but it will not kill parasites (or anything else that I am aware of). It will offer some protection from getting parasites in the first place (at least while they sleep anyways).

Sounds like it had Ich, and was able to fight it off.

Ok sorry it took me so long. It does appear to be Lymphocystis. It has gotten slightly bigger now. I have read up on treatments but since it's a virus there are no true treatments. I have read to leave the fish and better it's habitat to prevent stress but then I also read it was highly contagious. One says the fish will get better on it's own, the other it will die from it as the virus burst the tissues releasing more viruses.

Any ideas on what to do. I have some immune booster flake food that contains Beta Glucan. You can read about it here :http://www.angelsplus.com/FlakeImmune.htm

It is contagious, but not highly contagious IIRC. From everything I have seen and read, just keep it well fed with high water quality and you should see it eventually go away. You may notice a bit come back if/when the fish gets stressed, but nothing it can't live with.
