i have 2 blue crocea, have had them about a year, recently ive noticed white spots on the flesh (mantle?).................is there any kind of disease they can get? i thought maybe my shrimp have been picking at them but ive been watching at night and havent noticed this.....................

there are many different disease's that clams can get. its going to be really hard to tell anything with out a few good pics. can you be a little more descriptive about the spots? how does the clam seam other wise?does it have good color,is it extending its mantle normally?

well it was on one , now i see some on the other, one is extending normally , but the one that has had them the longest and has the most , is not extending as far as he used to..........it would actually be better if i emailed anyone a few pics that would like to take a look , as id have to shrink them down to post here and they lose detail..................

It might be Whitespot Disease, it is explained in Daniel Knop's book Giant Clams. Hope all goes well with your clams

thanks for the input, but i dont want to jump to conclusions when it could be anything

I had a white spot appear on my crocea mantle, it lasted a few days and went away, no problem. maybe you'll be lucky too.
