White stain on glass

Hi, I would like to introduce myself. My ne is Scott.
I have emptied my tank for cleaning but there is white on the glass that wont come off ive tried everything. A brush stteel wool. Cleaners. Nothing gets it off and am at a loss. Can anybody help in this matter.

Hi Scott. I'd worry you might have scratched the glass using steel wool, I hope that is not the case.

Anyway, that is likely calcium build up. Regular white vinegar should do the trick. You might need to lay the tank front side down and let the vinegar soak for a bit. Then, you should be able to wipe it off with paper towels.
 
Glass will etch over time. Nothing will remove the tiny pits. Sometime glasses do it in the dishwasher.
With a small tank it may be more economic to find another and save the ugly one for a sump.

CLR spray,
stronger chemicals
citric acid dissolved in water
Muriatic acid (HCl dilute) sold at Home Depot use 1 cup in a gallon of water and wear gloves. If it's going to come off this will do it in 1 minute. Wear rubber gloves and have running water nearby. Will make white spots holes in some clothes. Dont breathe the fumes. The is all I use anymore. If it doesnt come off quickly I am wasting my time. Dissolves sea life remnants quickly from pumps and stuff.
