When I was taking my mushrooms out of the water to break the rock it was on, I found it started spewing out white threaded stuff from the centre of the mushroom. Any idea what this is?
You are correct, it sounds like the digestive mesenterial filaments.
They were expelled in response to being handled out of the water. The mushroom should return to its normal appearance within 24 hours of being safely back in the aquarium.
