Since no one else has replied, it's probably stressed. Only time I've seen the guts expelled was once when I turned my flow off and laid cyclopeeze down on top of the colony, it actually expelled its guts to drag food in. Since then I've not seen mine expel the guts again. Someone else may have had a different experience...
