White Yellow Tang

Hi All,

I just want to show off with one of my newest fish friends. I saw him swimming at a customer of mine a couple of weeks ago and I brought him home last Friday.

He's swimming together with my other "normal" yellow tang as you can see.

This is for real, no photoshop etc.

The fish is healthy and eating like crazy. The face is completely white and on the body he does have some yellow-ish but is mainly white.

This type of fish is also listed in the books, but they are not common.

White yellow tangs do exist, but are very rare. I've seen a couple of them in the wild but have never had the chance to catch one.

Usually they look like the one in these photos - pale body with yellow fins. Sometimes you see yellow tangs with odd white patches, too.

I had to come back and check it out again. That is to cool. I have never liked or desired a yellow tang, but if I Ever saw one like that I think it would be comming home with me. Again, NICE FISH!

I've seen them from time to time and like RGBMatt usually they have white patches or the whole body isn't white, like in the picture. For what it's worth the white on the fish is usually a very washed out white and not a bright white like you would see on say a Juv Koran.

houtendvan ... that's one cute tang. I've seen ones of similar color before, too, but much less common than ones with patchy white.

btw, I've been to Groningen before :)
