I know 36 inches is tall for a tank, but does anyone have pictures of one? I wouldnt consider it for a reef, but maybe for a FO.

Mine is 40"

Mine is 40"

Sorry, but I don't have pictures available. My tank is 40" tall, 24" back-to-front, and 54" wide. I am running a mixed reef with soft coral and gorgonians down low and a few SPS high up in the tank.

My rock work is built up quite high; the highest rock sits out of the water a bit. As a result, I can mount SPS very high.

The reason for the height is that I really like the look, and it fit very well into the space we had for a built in. The tall look is really quite striking.

The problems are flow and maintenance. I need tools to reach the bottom of the tank, and even then, I have to put on my mask and snokel half the time to see what I am doing. The water flow problems could have been alleviated with better up front design, but now I am stuck with low flow in some areas that causes/allows more cyano built up than I would like.

Lighting is 2x250 14k M and a 60W actinic VHO. This is not a problem, although my SPS do not grow at nearly the rates seen inn many tanks posted on RC. Conversely, the gorgonians, leathers, various "meat" corals seem to do quite well.
