who wants some URI/UVL T5s?

Do you know if they are blue or more purple like the VHO actinics? I am asking as they say super blue. Michael R

bulbs ordered and are 25 bucks each shipped. they were supposed to arrive at PA yesterday or today. no clue if we got in early enough to get some from this first batch.

So how do they look compared to other T5 Actinics? They D&D's I'm runing now hardley show through the other bulbs they are with.

i didn't like the D&D actinics back when i ran them, though they do look better after a few weeks once they burn in. i'm running 1UVL and 1 2-3month old blue+, and the uvl completely overpowers the blue+ in overall tank appearance when the halides are off (could just be new bulb breakin). looking directly at the bulbs, they appear about the same intensity to my eyes (which means the uvl is probably putting out more since our eyes are so much less sensitive to 420 than 450). the uvl is a bit purple and the blue+ is clearly bluer so people looking for pure aesthetics might prefer the blue+. it does not seem quite as purple as the VHO version, and does not seem to fluoresce stuff quite as much (from memory of other people's tanks since i've never actually run one myself).

it's probably just a case of me seeing what i want to see, but i swear i'm already starting to see new buds on things that have been stagnant for a long time.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like they are not what everyone expected (comparing the T5 ver. to the VHO), but surely better than any T5 actinic up till now.

i swapped the blue+ for another UVL so i'm running 2 UVLs and it looks better i think than the mix of the two. alot more fluorescence on green things. now it does look alot like the vho s-actinic i think. maybe part of it is the one bulb has had a chance to burn in. still has a purplish look to it (just like the s-actinics), so i think some people will still prefer the blue+ for the truer-bluer look. but i still swear i'm getting a better response from my corals than i've seen in a long time all of a sudden with this bulb swap. i'd love to see it on an icecap (i'm running a triad).
