Why can't I find a crocea clam?

I've noticed a severe lack of T. crocea clams available for sale lately. Am I alone in this?

Does anyone know why?

I'm pretty sure collection regulations just increased, and now they have to be a minimum of 5" in order to be collected.

Yeah, but clams are farmed, right? They have giant aquaculture facilities in the south pacific. I've seen pictures of them. Shallow concrete pools with thousands of clams. Why the shortage?

DD used to be about 1/2 croceas, 1/2 other types of clams. Maybe I'm remembering wrong? I haven't seen a crocea on DD in months.

what they said above is right there seasonal even the aquaculture farms have down periods just be patient and youll see a boom of them pretty soon

I asked this question to live aquaria a few weeks ago because I notice every summer they have almost nothing but croceas in their DD section but the rest of the year they hardly have any
