Re: Why do LFS have gators? Warning: gruesome graphic!

"Why do LFS have gators?" from what i understood it was a zoo not a lfs. Its illegal in any state ive lived in to sell aligators at the lfs. alot of people think that camons are aligators but there not and that is what places like the critter have. unless theres a new law that i didnt know about.

I was just kidding with the LFS comment, but I would have thought that caimans might pose personal and environmental risks similar to alligators or crocs.

ps -- the link to the article shows that they retrieved the arm and put it back on!

I saw this article the other day on the National Geographic site when I was browsing around. Howard, I got a good chortle out of your comments so all is not lost.

Here is thier version.

This was the original story I was looking at. A real good read if you have time.

ok...i wasnt sure if you had caimans cunfused with aligators like alot of people do. They are both crocodilians but we had a caiman when we were growing up and it wasnt that bad at all and i was only around 12 when i had mine but once it got id say 2 foot we had to get rid of it because we moved out of state but im sure they can be pretty agressive when they get bigger just like an aligator but the aligator gets alot bigger and stronger but im sure a caimon could hurt you to. It might only beable to take off a couple fingers rather then a whole arm though lol. either way id say they arent the best family pet. I have heard others say they are alot tamer then an aligator and thats why they can be sold but anything with teeth like them i wouldnt trust.
