Why would my Rose Bubble Tip do this?

We have this Rose BTA that is beautiful! Problem is she (how my wife refers to it) has moved from the glass magnet to a perfect spot near the front of the tank to now the very far back corner of the tank hiding behind my pump. It isn't stuck because it comes out/up and gets some extra light fully expands and then goes back to hiding.

What can I do to keep it out towards the viewable area of the tank?

These guys tend to go where they want. I think they're looking for a place they feel safe (where their foot is protected and they can pull their body in for protection), usually near crevaces or caves in the rock work. I think they're also trying to find a place where the flow and the lighting are a good mix for it as well. Most of the time these guys end up where we don't want them ;)

It's important to have the intakes on power heads and other plumbing covered somehow, these nems are notorious for getting sucked into them which can kill them and cause problems for the rest of your tank.

I think your best bet for keeping it a viewable area is providing a place that you hope will meet the criteria it's looking for, and even then, there's no guarantee it will agree with you :)

A good place to see pics and get info (like covering dangerous intakes) is http://www.karensroseanemones.com/

Good luck!

Re read your post and was curious, how long have you had this nem, and how old is your tank? Sometimes these play a role in why it's wandering :)

Good luck!

Yep, got the intakes covered with foam. I had one about 7 years ago that when I woke up the next morning there was anemone everywhere from the suicide by pump.

Thanks for the info

The tank has been up and runnig for since July 2006 and the anemone has been in there since December 5th.

I wonder if they are more apt to stay out in the open if they have a clown or clowns? Right now we do not have one for it.

it doesn't matter if you have a clown hosting your nem or not. they are going to move and find the spot they like. i just added a second for another clown and it is now in the back of my rocks out of view. i am hoping it will come out in the open one day. but have one for 6 months now and it was on the move for about a month untill it found a comfy place in the front of my tank and it's been there since.

Mine has been in my tank for 4 weeks now, and it too is anchored in the back, where it can pull itself into a cave if it wants to. Each day it comes out further and stays out longer. We don't have clowns for it yet, but tax refunds should be happening in the next month or so and I'm hoping to get a few then, after the nem is settled and happy.
