wierd experiance at LFS

i went shopping for a true perc today. i had called the to some LFS and they had some avail. First stop was Ost since they give the discount to mars. they had 1, looked ok but I just wasn't feeling the love from the fish. I went to YR next, but they didn't have any. I then by Capital of all places but they didn't have any either. Ok, so i was like, i'll get the one from Ost. Went there and the one i was contemplating on geting was already sold. So i was like... "ok, maybe its jnot meant to be" On the way home, wife says, y dont u go to exotic. So i stop by. I was enticed now since they had 4 to choose from. same great price too. My princess saw the first one in the back area and wanted that one, ii liked the 2 which were cooped up together. there were many customers. I couldn't really find help at first but i ran into Matt. He was a great help, i told him i wanted 2 true percs and wanted to see them eat. He was more than happy to assist. So we go over to where the fishes were and fed them some brine. One of them wasn't really eating and the other one kept spiiting it out. Again, there were alot of customes so i tell Matt that is it ok for me to observe them for a bit. He was ok with that and gave me time to observe them. at the same time there were some pple who wanted some as well, with another employee. while i was still observing the fishes, they decide to get theones i was wanting. they told us to move and the employee got them the fishes. i didn't say anything, but i know they knew that i was going to buy them. especially when they were right by me when i was talking to matt about them. ofcourse my princess was like "daddy y is the other pple taking away our nemo fish??" i was like sshhzzz. :mad2: so i went to talk to matt once he got done with the other customer he was helpping. i let him know what happend; im sure he was aware that i was pretty PO. its hard for me to hide it. anyhow, he was a great help and i ended up picking out the one that my princess wanted at first anyhow. he was eating great while at the lfs and here at home.
sorry for the long rant, but anyhow, i just wanted to give Matt at Exotic the 2 thumbs up. He even gave me a 10% discount because of the incident. I learned my lesson, next time, i'll stick with talking with Matt

I have nothing but great things to say about Matt at Exotic. He runs the SW department and for good reason - very knowledgeable and great customer service. When I go in, I seek him out personally. He has me listed on his, "when something cool comes in, call XYZ" list, which I am very appreciative of.

I second the 2 thumbs up and wish you the best of luck with the clowns.

Random thing that could've happened anywhere. Sorry dude. I second (or third) the bonus award for Matt. I'm rabid about service. It's the only thing that matters in business.

Matt is a great guy to deal with while in that area. He answered all my questions and streared me away from the clam i wanted to another one ( same type and color all that ) but he told me this one was much healther which I am sure saved me in the long run.

CS is a HUGE thing to me that is why I go to place like YR,CRS and EX now that I know matt.

John @ YR DIDNT sell me the mud stuff for my fuge after talking to him and saved me a load of bank by showing me Fine sand would do just what i wanted. I in turn spent the money on livestock there.

And the guys at CRS are ALWAY helpfull and will take the time to chat and share their knowlage.

Why didn't you just explain to them what was going on and to wait for a minute for you decide since you were there first?

There are a lot of lookie loos at LFS on the weekends. I would guess that they didn't know or understand what was going on.

But anyways, don't sweat it......Percs are one of the many specie now tank raised and are usually very plentiful and readily eat.

Wait a couple of days and I am sure someone will have a pair comming in this week........

Sounds like an isolated incident and wouldn't stress about it......funny story though......seems like things like that are a dime a dozen until you want one eh?

Yea, i didn't say anything to them. i should have but i didn't. You know it kinda of reminded me of that Volkswagon commercial when that guy licks the door handle of the volkswagon. I didn't want to be that guy and was hoping that the others would just wait or even ask me. but its done and over with and eheh funny thing is, i might be getting rid of him anyhow. I'm still debating. I've had a pair of clowns in my previous 100gal and they were really friendly with the purple firefish i had. Always swam around with him. But this guy... he already took 2 bites out of my helfrichi's tail. He's also got the helfrichi to his back corner throughout today. So i'm going to observe him for the next day or 2 to see what i am going to do. like i said on my first post, i think it was a sign to not get one.
buy a 25$ fish to kill a $150 fish... humm prolly not wise.
