Does anyone know if wild caught black ocellaris are being collected. I found a pair for sale and it seems to good to be true.

well I just got 2 tank bred black ocellaris from liveaquaria and I am wondering about them. although I have great trust in la, something just isnt right with my new clowns. first of all, they are more of a burnt orange and although I now this is their juv. stage coloration, but it is more orange than I expected. The other bothersome fact is that they have not accept any type of food from flake to mysis to chopped shrimp. I would expect tr clowns to be more accepting. The clowns may still be acc. to the new enviroment but their refusal of food is odd.

Those Black Occs on EBay are definitely not w/c and certainly not rare,,,, I have an assload of Black misbar juvenile B/W occs ,,, the misbars are caused by the food/environment at the larval stage. Every now and again I get it wrong and end up with a batch that are nearly all misbars.

A tank-bred Black Occ will likely not be used to foods like mysis and chopped shrimp. If they're not accepting a good quality flake then try cyclop-eze or live baby brine. They'll take the other foods eventually.

Don't worry about the color, they will darken. Mine start to lose their orange coloration within a week or two of being removed from the grow-out tank.

thanks juck, the not eating thing surpizes me for being tank raised but you explanation makes sense. What is also a hoot, is that they accepted the first flakes I gave them after I release them into thier tank but they have yet accepted anything else. Well I guess if my clowns dont eat what I have they will have to wait until the weekend when I go to my LFS an hour and 15 minutes away. haha thanks
