Will I be safe putting an emerald crab in this setup?

The tank has been running for 2 months. I just added livestock this week.



I want to add something that will eat the excess food scraps that may stay at the bottom of the tank. I am thinking about getting an emerald crab. I find them interesting to watch. Would an emerald crab mess with any of my livestock?

Crabs are crabs. Meaning they are cool to watch but will get up to trouble when you least expect it. Your tank sounds like a safer bet for limiting problems though. So if you really like them I say go for it!

I've kept several emerald crabs in my nano over the decades. I've never observed one exhibit undesirable behavior though I've heard stories from others. I suggest picking a small one as the tales of aggression I've been told always involve large specimens.

I have an emerald now that if he doesn't like someone or something he will kill it or move it where he wants it. He tried my torch coral once....once.
