This is really a hypothetical question aimed to get an answer to a different question, but if you took water with ich parasites (any stage, including cyst) in it, froze the water, would the parasite survive? Is there a time period involved with this answer as well?
The real question I am looking to get to, is could a freeze starfish legs, and if (by chance) there was a parasite and/or cyst (ex. tomont/tomite) on the leg, would the parasites die when frozen? I am looking to skip QT on the starfish that I feed to my Harlequin Shrimp... my chocolate chip starfish just aren't regenerating fast enough (or at all for that matter, it seems...). I have a separate post asking about whether the shrimp would accept it.
