Will it live?

I just got a half dead acro. It's mostly bleach from the bottom. I would say about 40% bleach and has this not-so-bad stinky smell. What can I do anything to revive it? Or it is as good as dead?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Rogger.

I only have the Iodide from Seachem. Will that work? And how long should I dip them?

I am going to try to frag it...should I frag above or below the "bleach line?"

Thanks!

Also, if I frag the part that look good, would there any die off (since there is a stinky smell)? I don't want to ammonia spike my tank....

Thanks!

Acro's stink period, now if they stink to the point where you feel like your going to vomit, then they are no good. try to cut above the bleaching part, try what rogger said, but you definately have a 50/50, good luck!

Ok, I think I have killed off half of what's left. :( I put the smaller pieces in iodine and came back after 2 mins, rinse them and the water is brown...I guess the skin is coming off. And I hope the rest will make it...or I just bought a $9 lesson.

I try using a blade and as you all know...it doesn't work, lol. So, I picked up a piler and secure the bleach part, then snap it off with my finger. Most still have bleach white part on the bottom tho.

Thanks!

Cut it first, but do not use the dremmel, wire cutters work good for this, cut on thew live tissue area maybe 1/8" above the dead area, then do a LIGHT solution with your salt water and like ten drops of the iodine in a small cup largw enough to hold the frag, leave it there for no more than 2 minutes, if you plan to mount this frag, this will be the time to do it, get a drop of gel superglue on the plug and bring your frag on top of the drop, press lightly but firm no movement until it sets approx 20 seconds, good luck

Rogger, I've always had great success with my dremel. Are you saying not to use the dremel because you believe it hurts the tissue more than cutters?

Chris, I just bought a dremmel and after using it a couple of times I can see the potential it has in our hobby, however, IMO I think it is less messy and way faster to just use the wire cutters in the case of small branches of sps's.
In other words I just don't think is necessary to get the heavy artillery out for this job :D

I see where you are coming from, but I find it easier with the dremel to make a much more precise cut exactly where I want it. The flat cut also makes a great surface to super glue to a plug or rock. Different tools for different folks. :)
