hi i have 1 yellow tailed damsel and to clown fish. the larger clown and the damsel are unseperable they wont go far before the other is next to it again. will they mate??

no they cannot mate with each other, they are 2 different genera, so that is not possible, they are just close friends at this point, lol

Most likely not. If they were to, the offspring would be considered a chimera. Have things like this happened in nature? Sure, but it's extremely rare. More often than not, you will have hybridization between members of the same genus of closely related species. For example, an A. ocellaris and an A. percula.

They just feel safe around each other. Many fish will bond like this in a captive society. My Kole tang cannot stand to be more than a foot away from my Sailfin tang.

LMAO, that's a funny post. I'm just trying to picture what the babies would look like.

In my freshwater tank, my huge Oscar and my Parrot Cichlid that is half his size are practically attached at the hip. They are so cute hanging out together

Probably won't happen because chromasomal differences are just too great. If it did happen they would be just considered hybrids. A chimera is a different situation.
