Will my frags grow over excess glue?

Just added some SPS and got a little carried away on the glue...will the frags grow over a little layer of glue to get down onto the rock? Or should I re-mount them, trying to break off the excess glue?

yes they will overgrow the glue. you might want to avoid being too messy with it but if is not too bad its best to leave the frag alone, keep it in good light and flow.

They will deffinitely overgrow it as long as you have it in the proper current and light

Do be careful with the superglue. Most times when I use it, it causes some tissue recession right above where I glue.

It will, however, like the others said, overgrow the glue.

the superglue actually heats up when it begins to cure, that is why its important to put the frag back in the water quickly and in good flow.

i like to do the "spot weld", or just the smallest ammount of glue so the frag doesnt fall off, and then immediately in the tank, regardless of how many frags i have out. the glue is much more detrimental that any length of time exposed to air.

but yes, it will overgrow the glue, it will just take a while

Good to know. I haven't noticed this yet. Do you noticed it happens to certain types more than others? I've read about epoxy heating up and doing it though.

For some reason, my frags tend to grow over glue faster than the actual frag plug itself

the only coral that wont grow over glue in my experience is birdnests. however due to the growth pattern and the rapid growth rate of the coral spieces, in short time you wont be able to see the base of the coral or the glue, regarless of how much glue u use and/or how messy the glue job is

in general, birdsnest do not encrust anyway. if you look closely at your colony, you should see the base of the coral is fat and only slightly encrusted, but for the most part birdsnests wont grow over glue.
