Will snails starve?

Just like it says. I had a 20 gallon that I cycled with rock, sand , etc and after the diatom bloom came some algae on the glass. Got a couple turbo snails and a couple nassarius and two astrea (those guys suck). The tank was squeaky clean within a day and a half. Those turbos are no joke when it comes to clean up!

Now: I've had my 125 set up for about 3 weeks. The other day i broke down the 20 as it is going to be my QT. Moved over all the live rock and the snails into the big tank (started the big tank with 60lbs live rick and 40 dry + 120 or so lbs of substrate). Snails had to go with the rest of course. There was algae on a few of the rocks I started with, and that was gone with a quickness. Also, like I mentioned in another thread, I had a hitchhiker of another turbo snail, so now there's three of those guys.

Question (finally) is this: There isn't any visible algae in the tank. Everything is squeaky clean. Are they now gonna starve? With as much as I read about people having algae problems, at the moment I have exactly the opposite. We love the turbos, but if they are gonna die I'll rehome them elsewhere.

Snail tank? A 10 gallon, in front of a window, filled with salt mix made with tap water? lol

Yes snails will starve eventually as will any animal that doesn't get enough food. Chances are they are eating any algae that grows before you really see it, so they are likely getting some food but it doesn't hurt to supplement. You can take a piece of rubble rock and attach some nori to it with a rubber band. They will love you. Maybe use a 1x1 square of nori every few days

That sounds like a good idea. I'll pick up some nori on the way home.

Nori is nori right? If I just grab some of the stuff I make sushi with it should be the same, correct? Just happens to be at the grocery store.
