Will this fish pull through?

Ok got 2 false percs in QT, bought together as "mated pair"... we'll see about that, i have my doubts.

Anyway, in the store tank the fish were looking great, no visible signs of stress, eating normally, normal behavior.

3 hr drive back to home and after 1 hr acclimation into the QT, 1 fish exhibiting signs of stress, particularly clamped fins and secluded behavior, other fish is top notch, a complete ham as most clowns are.

We are now 96 hrs into quarantine and I have administered no treatments to the fish. The original stressed fish seems to be turning the corner, he ate cyclopeeze today for the first time and fins are less clamped. After he ate saw clear, stringy feces (classic bacteria infection symptoms) follow by nice normal colored feces on the same string.

The most interesting note in this whole story is that the stressed fish seems to be most happy/comfortable when the power filter is off. I like to see him swimming around and being a happy fish so I've been leaving the power filter off for about an hour at a time now.

Due to the fact I'm in the middle of nowhere I've got no Maracin-2 and am instead going to be receiving Trisulfa antibiotic powder on Thursday. I'm hesitant to use this but it claims to treat both gram neg and pos bacterial infections.

So my continued plan of attack:
Alternate turning power filter on and off as the fish seems less stressed with it off.

I'm waffling on the Trisulfa

Anybody got any input?

10gal QT, 0 NH3/NH4+, pH 8.0, S.G. 1.024

I'm surprised the power filter is bothering him. If the fish seems to be getting better I would wait on the antibiotics. If fish is eating, soak the food in garlic for 20 min. Try multiple feedings thru out the day. Good luck, sounds like he will pull through. He may just be suffering from stress and no infection is present.

well, 24 hrs later, he looks like he has really made alot of improvement. the fins are no longer clamped and he is eating and playing like a champ. i dunno if an infection ever took hold but he seems to have beaten whatever it was now.

and he is no longer bothered by the power filter.
