Will this fungia survive?

Order this from the Divers Den. Just got it in my tank and it looks like this. I haven't owned a fungia in like 5 years so I am not sure if they close up this much during shipping? This exposed skeleton makes me think its on its way out..?

I haven't seen one colored or shaped like yours. And I can't tell for certain if the darker parts are showing skeleton and are in good shape, but it looks like a newly introduced but not acclimated plate coral should. The variants I am familiar with have white skeletons and I don't see that in your pic. It's normal for tentacles to retract and you can see the ridges of the skeleton clearly, but with colored tissue tightly covering it. This is normal in my experience. If tissue is flaking off, you have a problem. But yours looks fine to me, or I can't see any obvious sign a of distress. Give it a few dauus and see if responds to being fed. If you're stlll concerned email DD. They should treat you right. Good luck with it.

thats a dying fungia for sure, give it low light and low flow, not even sure if dipping a coral like that would be wise opinions? either way dd will make it right

I'd be curious what exactly the death predictors are seeing. I see a deflated Fungia with no white skeleton. They do deflate sometimes & the OP said it is new. The picture is marginal, but what am I missing?

OP - how is it doing?

Seems to be doing well actually. Its not puffy at all like I am used to with fungias, but it seems healthy. I will try to take another picture later today to share.

Sometimes they just slowly decline for no apparent reason. I wouldn't say that's the case with yours yet, especially if it is "doing well". Is it eating? If it's still eating that's a big plus.

Looks like your tank is suffering from dinos from the pic. Dino may be attaching to your coral causing your issues.
