After getting hit with around 18" of snow this weekend, I have a newfound respect for all of you Alaskan fellas. :) Unfortunately, after 5 hours of shovelling yesterday, I didn't have the energy to take out the camera. Maybe tonight, after work.

Klepto - loving the snow man, loving it!!

Kilroy - Sweet! My sister cancelled her Xmas party because of the storm (she is in Port Washinton). I grew up in Great Neck and then further out by Glen Cobe (Glen Head actullay). Where are you at? The funny thing the first year I moved up here we got barely any snow and you guys got hammered that year! I was laughing with my family at that!

Doug - Merry, merry. (is that the bottom of El Cap?).

I would love to see this thread explode with images of winter and/or holiday related things. Yeah, even the kids, Christmas trees, presents, and even you in a Santa outfit!! Bring it on!!

LOL - maybe the bottom of Half Dome...or Bridal veil falls. Yeah, those are about the only pretty places in Yosemite :) (kidding of course).

IPT - I'm in Hicksville - just a straight shot down Rte 107 from Glen Cove/Glen Head area. Didn't get home from work until after the sun went down, so no luck with the pics, but I'm sure there are images all over the net. It's definitely the worst storm we've had in years. When did you move to Alaska?

Yeah, I've spent some time mulling around that area. I was born and raised in NY (LI) and didn't leave until I was in my late 20's. Went off to Washington state on a travel job. Once I got a taste of the REAL mountains in the west there was no going back for me! I've been in AK now for 7+ years. Ha, I originally came up here to stay for a year or two. Sort of thought I could get it out of my system (the playing and "vacationing") but instead it got "into" me. After a year I thought I'd stay maybe 5 years. After the second year I knew I wasn't leaving :).

it got warm now (33 degrees) and the wind ripped all the snow from the trees, but it's nice to reflect. Praying to the snow Gods as I type.

boy, Doug, Jesse, and I are the only ones with holiday or winter related images? No way...

That's pretty funny. We hit the 40's today with rain all day yesterday. The snow is all but gone. But the creeks are running pretty strong.

Man, some guys have all the luck. It's warm up here now too Jesse, nearly 35, yuck. Look at Doug down there (okay, so it was two years ago...) with pink clouds, hoar frost, low fog/mist, and water calm enough for a reflection. It's just not fair I tell you :).

Well, it look like we may be the only one's who take winter images fellas......though somehow I doubt that ;).

converted to B&W
