Worm attacking ric?

Is there any type of worm, it would appear to be a peanut worm, that attacks rics? I just got the little fellow a few days ago and placed him on the sand. Tonight when I went over to view it, I noticed some type of worm extend itself towards the ric and seem to withdraw with a piece of the ric, although it could have been part of the substrate.

The worm seems to have found a good home in one of the live rocks where it can extend itself and pick at the substrate, so I assume it is a peanut worm. I moved the rock away from the ric to try to prevent it from dining on the ric anymore.

The tank has been set up for about one year and there are normal mushrooms within easy reach of the worms hole and I have not noticed anything missing or attacked up to this point. I thought peanut worms just ate dietrus.

Should I be worried?

I had a eunice worm take a piece out of one of my rhodactics. Maybe the worm found something pleasing to its chemoreceptors?

Ive never heard of a peanut worm harming anything.....as already said, these guys surely can

flyyyguy and awcasper thank you for your input. I do not think it is one of these nasty little critters. It is smooth, as opposed to having the bristles and four frontal jaws. I moved the ric just to be sure that it was not getting eaten.

flyyyguy, that is one ugly little critter. I live in Arizona and regularly go scorpion hunting with a black light and mallet. I think I would rather take on the scorpions rather than one of these worms.
