one of my clownfish seems to have brooklynella. i gave it a formaldehyde dip for 30 minutes today. should i also do one for my other clown? he doesnt seem to have any signs of it and i seemed to have caught it on the other clownfish pretty early

yes, do it on every fish in contact with the disease. continue doing formalin dip until the disease disappears.

keep doing the dip until the symptoms disappear. then quarantine for another 4 weeks and see if it comes back. if it doesn't you should be good to place them into DT.

how will i know if the disease has disappeared?

Without QT, it won't disappear. Given the nature of the parasite, it's likely it'll kill off the fish before it goes away. Brook is a nasty thing, and needs to be addressed quickly and efficiently.

+1....and you can set up a QT on the cheap. IMO, its just as important as any piece of equipment you own. I sound like a broken record; but almost every thread on this section of the forum involves failure to use or own a QT.

Old and grumpy you are.....chances are, most folks new to the hobby have yet to see a record player, or know what happens when one skips.

And for the record...hehhehe....the last record I bought was the Michael Jackson Bad single when it was a new release.

"I sound like a bad digital recording" just doesn't have the same ring. Jackson's records are fine, just avoid his Doctor.

my second clownfish and other fish have not died or have no symptoms since my first clownfish have died. is it possible it wasnt brook in the first place?
