IMO he will starve to death. may not be right away as they can last a long time with no food but will suffer long term unless to spot feed him.

I used to have one in my old setup, they very rarely come out, mainly at night so you will have to feed with all lights off for him

Serpent stars eat almost anything from flake to pieces of shrimp or scallop so they will not starve like sand shifters or linkias.
THey spend much of their time under the rock.
Also insure it is indeed a serpent start and not a brittle star. Brittles are agresive toward other inhabitants and toward themselves.
