My question is ...
Is it true they only eat starfish or will they take to any other food?

Yes. I have two for a long time. They died when my fan of my light died and my light over heated, melted the acrylic casing, and fell into my tank.

So did you buy starfish to feed them? And how much would you say they eat?

I was keeping a couple for a bit more than a year (till Sandy came...) they are gorgeous animals.

I was feeding them about one starfish a month when I could find a large chocolate chip. Otherwise a sand sifter every other week.

I liked to keep them well fed, since they were breeding about once every five weeks.

ps: if you have asterinas they will eat that too.

Only starfish.. I've never heard of or seen mine eat anything other than asterisks.. When they are gone I'm going to give it up..

Well I guess my other question is how would they get along with a pair of blood shrimp?
