so ive got a 55 gallon qt tank running barebottom with a canister filter, 2 powerheads, heaters, and pvc pipe. no substrate or LR. My normal qt procedure is 2 weeks of cupramine followed by a week or 2 of prazi. this is the 4th batch of fish ive treated and never had a problem before.

a few days ago i added 3 wrasses: McCoskers flasher, C. Lineatus, and an orange back fairy all at the same time from the same source. For a couple days these fish were all fine so i decided against my better judgement and added a healthy looking C. Temminckii from a sketchy LFS.

Maybe a day later i come home to find the orangeback dead for no apparent reason but the other 3 are all still eating and actively swimming. At this point i decide to start my normal QT procedure and treat with cupramine so i dose half my dosage the first night, next day fish all look good so i go ahead and dose the other half. 24 hours later which is today i come home to find all 3 fish lethargic and just laying there basically doing nothing. I then tried feeding a cube of mysis and got no movement or response from any of them. Next i did some basic testing and salinity and temp were good. using a Seachem test kit i got the correct cupramine reading of 0.5 or whatever it should be.

At this point i panicked and did a 50% water change and added some carbon to remove the cupramine thinking that these wrasses are sensitive and are all having a bad reaction? Now maybe i'm not sure and wonder if the Temminckii had velvet or brock and i made a mistake by removing the medication. What should i do?

Temp was a little low before the water change at 75 or 76 deg and is still at that same temp but i have added and xtra heater in the meantime. Would that alone cause these fish to be that unresponsive?

I'll let the expects advise you, but will say that I've got ~40 wrasses, for years without problems but I've not been able to keep orange backs alive...

I'm pretty sure most wrasses are extremely sensitive to copper and it is not reccomended to do a copper treatment with them..
