I work at a small LFS and my boss picked up an amazing emerald green colored wrasse at a local wholesaler a week or so ago. I've been eyeing it ever since we've had it, so i brought it home tonight. it's eaten frozen ever since we got it (even the first day) and looks very very healthy. It was sold to us as a "green leaf wrasse". I haven't been able to lock a scientific down and WWM, fishbase show no results. my camera is still at the store so i'll get a pic tomorrow. anybody got an idea of what i'm talking about and any help/links to let me find more about this fish. thanks.

any update on this? my lfs has a wrasse for sale and it sounds like the same fish. they call it a green dragon wrasse. i am very interested in getting this fish but dont want to buy it yey until i can find out some info.

yep the green leaf wrasse is him. how is this fish in your tank? agrressive or destructive in any way?

It's not my fish but here is it's species name

Novaculichthys macrolepidotus

It also goes under Seagrass Wrasse. Like other wrasse it like to bury itself in the sand and is a jumper so you need to make sure the lid is on tight or you have some thing to block the top like egg crates.

He's doing well so far. here's some pics i snapped today. sorry for the blurriness. I've got about a 1.5" sand bed and i'm noticing he's having trouble burying in some spots so i'm going to start adding some more sand to accomodate him better. hangs out at the bottom and hasn't shown any signs of being a jumper so far but my tank has a tight fitting canopy if he decides to go for it. anybody know how big these get?? do i need to plan on a bigger set-up?!?!?!

According to fishbase, they get to about 6" and are pretty shy which I can already tell. I've been thinking about putting some grasses in there so maybe now will be the time to try as this fish inhabits seagrass beds and will feel most comforatable there. If anybody else has any input then feel free to throw it out there.
