Wrasse in QT question

Hi all,

I'm a newbie, but have taken the typical QT precautions for fish that I ultimately place in my DT. I realize that in general, if one has any fish that come down with ich in the DT, you should remove them all and place them in QT with hypo, Cu, Prazipro, etc, but I came across an interesting scenario and since I'm limited with my experience I thought I might throw it out there. A friend of mine from Vancouver setup a tank a few months ago and he only has a pair of maroon clowns and a X-mas wrasse... he doesn't QT and so as expected one of his clowns came down with ich and now his X-mas wrasse (good size, 4-5") also came down with it. He's been feeding heavily with garlic soaked PE Mysis and things seem stable. The remainder of his water parameters look good, i.e. T 78, no trace of ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, pH 8.2, alk 9. Seeing that I gave strong consideration to adding a wrasse into my tank next, I wanted to know about QT guidelines for a wrasse, mainly the Halichoeres genus. I have read on threads here that many have lost their wrasses in QT with Cu and/or that they require a sandbed in the QT given their habits of burrowing nightly... as well, should I be letting my friend know he should be setting up a QT asap with all the routine components including DSB, but using Prazi or hypo rather than Cu or just hope for the best and feed as he is knowing that anything he adds in is at risk for ich since his system won't be fallow (unless the current fish succumb of course).
