Wrasse Question

I am wondering, what are the best looking (for lack of a better word) Low End Wrasse's, say in the $70 tops range, Reef and Invert safe Wrasses, fish that will get along with each other, Wrasses that for the most part are easy to get. My LFS only gets a Wrasse in every now and then, the online web sites, I am sure they photo shop their still pictures, the videos on Liveaquaria and some of the other sites, don't really show off the colors of the different wrasses, maybe lighting has a lot to do with this, but most look the same when it comes to color. Its hard to get a want to buy list made when you never get to actually see a live fish. I am wanting to get around 6 or 7 maybe 8 :) for my tank. The only one I know that I want for my tank will be a Yellow Coris Wrasse and then maybe one high $$ Wrasse, the rest will be on the lower end, as far as cost goes.

Too many out there to name just one. Are you looking to add color, personality, size reef compatibility? The wrasse are so diverse. Go to several of the reputable fish sites and browse what they have. You'll get an idea of price, stock and compatibiblity with other fish. I'm hopelessly addicted to the wrasse so just shop a little and see which one really grabs you.

:) They All reach out and grab me, wish I could have them all :). I would say Reef & Invert safe is the main thing, then a diversity in color is what I want. With having only 8 or so in the tank, I want them to have a viriety of color variations.

So many.....Pylei's are nice depending on where they come from, Lubbocki's IMO are over looked they are a beautiful multi-color and less expensive than you were hoping so maybe you could get 2 if you want to go that route. The yellow coris is also nice, adds a big splash of color. I'm not sure you can go wrong.....

Good Luck. I have both and they get a long with every other fish and they are reef compatible.

labouti is hard to care for esp in qt. id reccomend a harem of flasher wrasses. nice personality, stays small cheap.

as far as faries go. pylei, exquisite, or even adornus are great. also cirrhilabrus balteatus is a great fish in a pair or trio. all of these fish are 100 or less.
