wrasse questions

hey all. getting a 40 gallon breeder built custom by all-glass (reef ready) anyhow, in my 29 gallon (current tank) I have 2 clown fish. when I upgrade to the 40 i was thinking of getting a mccosker flasher wrasse or filamented flasher wrasse.

2 questions though:

First, I have heard they are best kept with 2 or more females. Is adding 3 wrasses too much for this tank and if so what do you suggest.

Second, I hear wrasses are jumpers. I don't have a canopy and i don't want a glass cover on the tank for heat and light reasons. what can be done to help keep them from jumping out?

wrasses = canopy or cover (glass or eggcrate), especially in a shallow tank like a 40B.
If you can't accommodate, I'd say avoid wrasses.

what other cover options are there. I really can't interfere with the light. my system is SPS dominant. Also, I don't have a chiller or anything, so I really don't want a glass top because of heat

Eggcrate won't interfere with the light enough for it to be an issue. I use it on my 200g prop tank in my fish room. Usually white, but you can also find it in black.
