Do you know what kind of Wrasse that is? They have one in one of the coral tanks at a LFS(Big Als) but no one knew what kind of wrasse it was. Its a Beautiful fish!
I'm not positive but it may be a Halichoeres Ornatissimus. It looks similar to the Wrasse that I just got on Saturday and that was the best ID I could come up with. I'm curious what you are feeding yours. Mine had a few garlic/selcon mysis on Sunday but hasn't eaten since then so I'm getting a little worried. Is there a particular food yours likes a lot?
Mines is pretty docile and very curious. Isn't the common name for those guys is the Christmas Wrasse. Mines also has a green streaks in the face. I guess they vary from area to area.
From what I can tell these seem to be called either the Ornate Wrasse or Christmas Wrasse. The problem of course is that both of these names are also used by several other species.
He is pretty mellow, does not attack others but will defend himself. He cruises the tank picking at the rock looking for meals. They are called Ornate Wrasse or Christmas Wrasse based on description by supplier.
