Am looking for a 4 foot wide tank to build into my wall. I currently have a 90g setup but want to build another tank into the wall, get setup, then transfer the rock/fish over.

My main concern is i have nova extreme pro 48" lights and want to be able to use them with the new setup.

thanks

Craigslist is always a really good place to look. Most people want to sell an entire system north of $1000, but if they're getting desperate (in this economy) they may be willing to just sell the tank at a fair price.

Also, 75g's are far more common than 90's... and you'll just get all the more light to your corals with a shorter tank. On the flip side, a 120g tank is the same height and length as a 90, but adds 6" to the width making aquascaping easier. Just things to consider. Not knocking the 90g size at all... I'm in a 75g now, but next time I move I'll be replacing it with a 90g simply because the footprint is the same and might as well get a bit more volume... and my 75 is over 10 years old and has been moved at least 3 times now. :)

I'm getting way off topic, but point being check out more so in the local classifieds and Craigslist as this will be a local pickup only item. You might end up just having to buy new, especially if you need drilled. Anyhow, good luck!

I have some time to think about this and do it right. My basement has a wall with double folding doors which i can remove and build a tank into the wall. I can still access the area from the other set of double doors on the other side. I already purchased a 30g to make a sump. I'll also plan to pickup an RO/DI unit and create an auto top off system as well.

I am taking this slowly, so i can create a nice setup and hopefully have a nice looking basement. The only thing i am not sure about is the wall currently has 2 sets of double folding doors so it is even on both sides. I'll be removing one set so the tank will be on the right and it wont be centered on the wall.

new plan

[] = double folding door
--- = wall

Palmyra, huh? I grew up there... down off of Lingle Ave.

Sounds like a pretty sweet setup to be able to go behind the wall like that, good luck grabbing a deal on that 120 ;)

I spoke to the guy with the 120. I'll most likely get that tank. Will a 30g sump be enough, or should i go bigger now?

Will have to plan for some more rock too. Most likely get some base rock and just put the rock from the 90 on top of it.

30g should be enough for a sump. I'm using a 20L for a sump on my 75 and it is just barely enough, however you don't necessarily need a proportionally bigger sump for a 120.

It's still 48" long, it's just the additional 6" wide as far as the drain volume capacity that you'd have to account for with the larger 120.
